I am rather pleased to be sharing with you the photos of my finished Floral Hexagon Quilt and I am quietly thrilled with the look and texture of the not so minimal quilting. For some reason I dreaded the quilting of this hand sewn quilt even though I secured every single one of those stitches myself. I am however happy to say that both basting and quilting proceeded in the same way as it normally does; basting - not so much fun, quilting - it seems I don't know when enough is enough. I do like a moderately/heavy quilted quilt!
The quilt is quilted with closely spaced (a half inch apart) vertical lines. As all of the quilt top seams are pressed open I stayed away from ditch stitching any of the seam lines. I really do love the look and lightly textured material created by the closely spaced lines of quilting, especially combined with the low loft cotton batting.
For the back of the quilt I have used a beautiful floral fabric on a yellow background. This fabric is a Yuwa design called Sunday Rose Garden from the Sunday 9AM collection (featured in Sunday Stash #272 - purchased from Pink Castle Fabrics). I am so glad I held onto this gorgeous yardage in anticipation of just the right project. I definitely think this was it!
For the binding I have used a soft pink/white stripe from the Essentially Yours Collection - Essential Stripe in Baby Pink.
This quilt is available for purchase. SOLD
As always, thank you for stopping by,
Rita
