Today ... a gallery of photos of the finished Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Baby Quilt and I am pretty pleased with how it came together! Simple patchwork continues to be my favorite way to spend my sewing time, although usually any kind of fabric play comes a close second. Fabric, fabric, fabric. This one is all about the fabric.
I have quilted the baby quilt by first ditch stitching all seam lines, and then stitching edge to edge diagonal lines through the lighter background fabric only. It makes for quite a heavily quilted quilt but in turn gives the quilt texture and another point of interest.
For the back of the quilt I have used a single small scale floral fabric from the Flower Bouquet Collection by Lecien. Purple! Well, lavender ... so far outside of my comfort zone ... but it suited the quilt and I think it's perfect for a baby/toddler girl.
For the binding I have not strayed too far from my usual, just a change of color: a pastel pink/white stripe fabric (Essentially Yours - Baby Pink Essential Stripe by Moda Fabrics).

Beautiful as always. I like to make my baby quilts one width of fabric because I think small quilts are useful (stroller, car seat). It seems so many people make them "go big or go home." Do you have a reason for making baby quilts the size you do?
ReplyDeleteForgot to say - great idea on making the alternate blocks a simple fabric (not a solid but with a simple design). I need to steal this idea.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love how the quilting makes the colored squares pop!
