I love fabric - that is no secret - and I am the first to admit that my fabric stash is considerable. It consists mainly of quilting cotton plus a (more sensible) quantity of home decorator weight fabric, but it also also includes a very nice collection of luxurious Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabric. My Liberty fabric collection is stored separately and not immediately in sight. What tends to happen is that I gravitate towards the fabrics that are right there in front of me and therefore Liberty fabric sadly comes into play less often. But not so this week!
All the blues! I have taken inspiration for the color palette from the weather; the intermittent blue skies and ominous dark clouds. Spring in Melbourne this year so far has been very wet. I don't recall the last time we've had so much rain. For the first time in many years I own an umbrella, and I have had to actually use it! Liberty do such a range of wonderful blue hues, from the darkest royal blue, to cobalt blue, lavender blue, sky blue, and stunning turquoise ~ I couldn't resist but mix them all together.

Rita, it's just lovely! To mimic Mother Nature with your fabric choices makes it even that much more special. We had an unusually wet spring, too, and then no rain all summer! It was a double whammy! Our poor plants, shrubs, and trees, not to mention the birds, didn't know what to think! XO
ReplyDeleteRita this is beautiful. I always love your quilts with the white and colors. They have been my favorites. But now that I've seen this print, I'm not sure what is my favorite. Love the print. Love It!

ReplyDeleteSeriously, no umbrella? After we left Melbourne, it took me months to get used to being able to leave the house without a brolly, a cardi, a sun hat, a scarf ... Just in case.
Love this. The colors and the contrasting text print -- just beautiful.
