Red, white, and blue! You cannot go wrong with such a classic color palette, especially when you combine that color palette with traditional patchwork design. I love everything about this quilt and as always have loved the process of choosing fabrics, simple piecing, and then quilting and binding.

To keep things simple and allow the fabrics to shine I have quilted this quilt by ditch-stitching all seam lines, creating an all over 1.5" grid of intersecting lines. This gives the quilt a subtle texture and a lovely soft hand. For the back of the quilt I have used a single floral fabric in a soft grey: Daisy Vine in Pewter by Pam Kitty Morning from the Fog City Kitty Collection.

For the binding I have once again used a black/white stripe fabric by Timeless Treasures. I auditioned several other stripe fabrics for binding - including a blue/white and red/white stripe fabric - but came back to my trusty black/white stripe fabric. Whilst I am calling this my red, white, and blue quilt there are also quite a few black fabric accents in the quilt and as such the black/white stripe fabric for binding was the natural choice and the perfect fit. (AND because I am often asked ~ Timeless Treasures black/white stripe fabric is currently available from Fabric Bubb).

  10. Do you know the history of the postage stamp quilt? It is fascinating! I made a king size postage stamp quilt and then hand quilted the finished quilt. A long winter's project. :)
