This quilt! My love for working with low volume fabrics continues to be strong. Other than the fact that I now have a significant stash of low volume fabrics on hand, which in itself is motivation to keep on stitching, I continue to enjoy working with this gentle color palette, the play of print and color, and as almost always is the case, traditional patchwork designs.
I have finished the quilt by quilting it with closely spaced straight vertical (edge to edge) lines only for a clean and modern look and a texture that makes you want to reach out and touch it each time you walk past! I have used a low loft cotton batting which also gives the quilt a light and airy feel.
For the back of the quilt I have used another long standing favorite text fabric ~ Newsprint from the Story collection by Carrie Bloomston, and for the binding I have used a soft pink stash basic ~ Squared Elements in Rosewater by Art Gallery Fabrics.

ABOUT THE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLE VARIATION QUILT PATTERN (PDF FILE)
- The Modern Half Square Triangle Quilt Pattern is available for immediate download from my Etsy Store as well as my Pattern Store and includes 16 pages of photos, step by step instructions and diagrams. Everything from piecing and pressing, to basting and binding is included.
- The pattern is a block based pattern and includes instructions for the various different blocks that make up this quilt, including the block with Flying Geese units (for which, in addition of simple piecing instructions, a foundation paper piecing pattern is included if this is your preferred method of piecing these units).
- The finished quilt measures 48 inches x 60 inches. The pattern also includes all fabric and block requirements for FOUR additional quilt sizes; from baby quilt to king size quilt.
- This pattern is suitable for confident beginners (with rotary cutting and straight line sewing experience) and any quilter that has a stash of fabric scraps that needs busting!
I have LOVED every part of making this quilt; from the repetitive task that is block making and turning over my stash and scrap bins in search of just the right fabrics to the simple straight line quilting. This was not my first low volume quilt and I don't imagine that this is my last.
As always THANK YOU for stopping by,
Rita
