Handcrafted by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics
Handcrafted by Alison Glass was released late last year and was followed more recently by a second and collection - Handcrafted 2 - which represents a continuation of an overall look that is unique.
Handcrafted 2 by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics
Both collections are made entirely by hand (a process unique to Andover) and are a new interpretation of the ancient wax resist fabric dying art form (batik). It is made in Indonesia by people skilled with this technique. Many hands have gone into the making of this hand stamped and hand dyed cloth, and it is beautiful. The fabric is a slightly lighter than quilting cotton, and although technically there is a a right side, they are reversible.
Admittedly these two collections will push me to think and work outside of my comfort zone, and it has taken some time to add these to my stash. However the bright, modern colors, and clever interpretation of a style of fabrics that I would otherwise avoid has completely drawn me in. I am looking forward to working with these designs.

Can't wait to see what you do with them Rita :-) I'm sure you will come up with something fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI really like these fabrics! Like Laurelle, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them (because everything you make is fabulous!).
ReplyDeleteOh these are really pretty. Love the rich colors
ReplyDeleteSince Red is my favorite color, I like mostly the pieces with red haha
Happy Sunday
Gorgeous fabrics! Can't wait to see how you utilize them. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteOOOh, love those fabrics, thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI bought a FQ set of Handcrafted recently and have been pondering how to use them -- all together or mixed with other stuff from the stash -- can't wait to see what clever ideas you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI have admired these fabrics a lot lately, but have held off buying any because I'm not sure how I would use them either! So I'll look forward to seeing what you do.
ReplyDeleteI have some of this line too and can't wait to see what you create with them!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently using one of these as a backing for a quilt I'm hand quilting. Combined with the wool batting I'm using, the lightness of these fabrics is soo nice (and easy) to quilt.
