A Minty Green Patchwork Quilt [work in progress]

Minty Green Patchwork Quilt Top - Red Pepper Quilts

A new week and a new quilt but with a color palette carried forward from my last quilt. Whilst working on my Rainbow Half Square Triangle Quilt last week I was really taken with a small section of that quilt which featured minty green colors ~ softly blending with yellows and blues. So, rather than return fabrics to stash I have continued on ...

Do you get a sense that I love the fabric of patchwork? A finished quilt top makes me super happy, even if it is just simple patchwork. Especially simple patchwork! I love how all the colors and designs magically play together despite the random fabric placement, and I enjoy "browsing" through sections of the quilt top as if it were a picture book (although sometimes it isn't until I have taken photos and start editing that I see the fabric magic).

My Easter break was productive - perhaps fuelled by chocolate and hot cross buns - and I have already basted this quilt. There is however an ever growing pile of fabric that still needs to be returned to stash. Admittedly, returning fabric to stash is not one of my strong points.

    1. Hi Susan - I am guessing that I used 50 - 60 different fabrics (25 light/white background fabrics and 25 colored fabrics). I don't usually keep track of how many fabrics I have used, but I did strip piece this quilt so I know that each print is used 3 to 4 times. Rita

  10. Ha ha ha---- why can't we train ourselves to file those fabrics before we start the next project? It is too hard to part with them, I guess...

  16. I know what you mean. One of my favorite quilts is one I made from a charm square swap so there are over 225 different squares from all over the world and I see something new on it every day. Makes me so happy!

  19. Lots of great fabrics and love the fresh cool colors. When you buy fabric do you buy fat quarters or half yards?

    1. Thank you for stopping by! My fabric purchases vary - sometimes fat quarters (usually then the whole collection) and other times half yards (when selecting specific fabrics from a collection). I don't often buy more than a half yard. I purchase 5-6 yards for quilt backs ~ usually during sales. Rita
