This is block is called New Hampshire and is block #29 in the above mentioned book. The block consists of three different foundation designs. I chose this block for it's dynamic look and used bold fabric placement for the largest point of the star block.
I chose this block for it's dynamic look and used bold fabric placement for the largest point of the star block to create movement. This block was a little more fiddly to piece but if you adhere to and persevere with the paper piecing process, it is nonetheless accurate. The 9 patch block comes together with ease; the seams match and the points of the stars are sharp.
Thank you for stopping by,
Rita

ReplyDeleteI WANT THIS QUILT! You're a genius.
ReplyDeleteOh wow... Beautiful! So funny, I have the same book and made one star from it. Them when I saw your last star I decided I needed to make one 'Rita style' totally copying your idea and including texty fabrics though still in the same colors as the first one. I am in a star bee and decided I wanted to make either of those stars and asked my readers to decide which one. The 'Rita star' is by far the favorite :) you have such a great sense about balancing the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous!! This looks like a great book and the blocks so versatile depending on the fabric placement. I have been wanting to try paper piecing and this book will be on my Christmas list. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteStunning work :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. I have that book.
ReplyDeleteRita,
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks! I have carol dork book on my Christmas list. I have been going to her web site and getting free pp patterns. I have turned a few of her patterns into mug rugs for Christmas presents. Very addicting when you get on a roll. Have a great weekend.
