A finished quick knit - another shawl - involving the very basics of lace knitting and only a few stitch markers. Chart reading is becoming increasingly less complicated and daunting, even to the point where I know that I've made a mistake before the end of the pattern repeat. Rather handy, as frogging my knitting usually ends up as a nasty mess.
Another Christmas gift made. I've never been quite this organized!
Rita
It's sooooo nice! Beautyful!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the colorname, delicious :-)
Oh wow, it looks like Autumn leaves, beautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I can't wait for the weather to get cooler to dig out my knitting needles!
ReplyDeleteThe colorway is stunning, as is the handwork. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color an pattern!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAutummn colors are my favorites!

It's beautiful! I love the color!
ReplyDeleteYes I am a Knitter/Quilter! This shawl is delightful...lucky ducky Christmas recipient.
ReplyDeleteRita, can you tell me how this compares in size to Nefertem? I ordered the Nefertem after seeing it on your blog and loved the colors and pattern but was very disappointed with how small it was .. surely they should have called it a scarf instead of a shawl. This orange is gorgeous and I'm definitely loving the simple knit with the lace border .. thinking about Cladonia soon.
ReplyDeleteA quick knit? Huh! I'm impressed with your speed & talent!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a knitter (anymore) due to hand cramping, but I so wish I was. (Although I doubt if I ever was as good as you!) That shawl is gorgeous! You do such awesome work!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I think there are lots of combo knitters and quilters - it gives you another option when one is frustrating you!
ReplyDeleteI love how you did your photographs - are you using a light tent?
Lovely! I hadn't even heard of this pattern before. I'm off to Ravelry to check it out.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. I love knitting and quilting too. Jacinta
ReplyDeleteRita - this is beautiful! I am trying to master lace stitching but I get started and always get freaked out and lost in the pattern then I give up! Oh well, guess I will just enjoy your work. Great Job! AJ

Rita, it's absolutely beautiful!! If I may ask a question or two, how did you learn to knit and what would you recommend to someone who wants to get started but only knows a basic crochet stitch (and can't even remember that from high school)? I've been so inspired by the beautiful projects I've seen lately that I really would like to learn but have no idea where to really start. It seems a bit overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I think both the pattern & yarn are wonderful! I am also a knitter, but I must admit to being a bit skeptical that a shawl that size could possibly fall into the category of "a quick knit!". I think of a hat as a quick knit... But then I consider you a most prodigious Quilter/knitter! Thanks for sharing the great project. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's beautiful and so perfect for Fall!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Can you link to/post any tips for learning how to lace knit?
ReplyDeleteLovely shawl! I haven't knit that one, but I do love a good shawl. And the color is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I've crocheted since about age 9, but have never been able to pick up knitting. It seems so much more versatile. I'm impressed that you're already tackling Christmas gifts - I haven't given them a second thought.
ReplyDeleteRita, I just 'Friended' you on Rav. I love this shawl and now you've inspired me to put it at the top of my list.
ReplyDeletewell, I do have Stephen West's Boneyard and Multnomah on the needles.
Live Oak is NEXT ! ! !

i ordered the neferem pattern and tosh sox's midnight rendezvous, too, and found it to be SMALL! i added two repeats, and at the last three rows, it still looks small. here's hoping i get a good stretch. i haven't stretched anything for 50 years and don't have my mother's stretcher.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your knitting. You use such beautiful yarns and pick beautiful patterns. It's such a treat to see! :)
ReplyDeleteRita, all your work is just beyond words! You are so very talented! I love that you share your work with us! We are the ones that are blessed!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was on your christmas list! LOL Have a wonderful day!
I don't knit myself, but I love to see what you create with yarn!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteLovely combination of yarn, colour and pattern.
ReplyDeleteTry tinking (one stitch at a time) instead of frogging - slower but less fraught with danger!
What a color! I guess you may not need/want the yarn prizes, but this would be a lovely entry into Celebrate Color if you were so inclined. And since you're in Australia, you get extra credit for helping us celebrate autumn, lol.
ReplyDeletestunning!
ReplyDeleteYou do such beautiful work in your quilts. This, however, is stunning!
