This fabric bundle is Picnic and Fairgrounds by Denyse Schmidt, sold exclusively at Joann in the USA and eventually (May 2011) at Spotlight Australia, but also re-sold on Etsy through several sellers. I purchased my bundle here.
It is only fabric and I have cut into it already! I've started by whipping up a small storm of patchwork. It handles, feels and stitches much like any other quilting weight cotton. Picnic and Fairgrounds also combines well with both the earlier fabric collections by Denyse Schmidt - Katie Jump Rope and Flea Market Fancy.
But then again there are many fabrics in my stash that will go nicely with these prints.
Happy Stitching,
Rita
Yours arrived fast - hopefully mine will arrive soon.
ReplyDeletebeautiful. I just purchased a stash of Amy Butler from Hancocks in the USA. I am so excited. Charmaine
ReplyDeleteHi Rita i looked at the etsy shop on the link, but they only sell charm squares or jelly roll, did you buy your bundle as yardage? Just wondering if it is still available? Ta
ReplyDeleteOh my, I wondered if this was going to come to Spotlight - how exciting!! I will need to start stalking my nearest stores for it. Will be interesting to see how its priced here and whether its actually cheaper to buy it from resellers on Etsy!
ReplyDeleteYou tempted me - I succumbed! Charm pack on it's way. It says summer to me! Let's hope we get one this year - too wet last year!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till mine arrives...hopefully tomorrow!

Yours looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on Spotlight!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I saw our JoAnn's had only four bolts in their store, but hopefully they will get more.
ReplyDeleteJust love your stuff!
Thanks for the heads-up on the Spotlight arrival! I wonder how long it will last and also what the price will be?
ReplyDeletebeautiful..very very beautifull
ReplyDeleteI just picked up a stack yesterday...but my girls have commandeered it for summer clothing, so I'm pretty sure there won't be any Picnic and Fairgrounds quilt at my house!
ReplyDeletei considering a bow-tie quilt with my stack of DS.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what yours becomes! :)
I succumbed too, though I just purchased the blue & green Fairgrounds prints. I confess I liked them much better when I saw them in person - they're very nice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors and patterns!
ReplyDeleteIf you need/want any more--let me know! I would be happy to buy it for you with a coupon and no mark-up--I'm at Joanns all the time, and my store still has all 21 prints!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when you'd get your share of the Picnics and Fairgrounds. I love it so much, I'm having a hard time cutting into it. Can't wait to see what you do with your half squares.
ReplyDeleteFYI you can purchase it on www.Joann.com. Denyse put a link on her Facebook wall saying, "Get it while you can!" I got 1/2 yard of each 21 prints, but still want more:D
ReplyDeleteI bought some solids at a LQS to go with my bundle. I'm sure I can add some of my other stash of her fabrics. Looking forward to your quilt.
ReplyDeleteIf you can find it at a Joann's right now, it's actually on sale for $7.99 a yard right now, and since it's on sale the coupons in most cases won't work.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some of this but sadly my JoAnns didnt' seem to have all the prints. enjoy!
ReplyDeletewow - thats a beautiful collection!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Didn't know about it coming to Spotlight but will keep a keen eye out in May (but probably June here in Hobart)!!
ReplyDeleteAs usual..can't wait to see what develops. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have made a few cosy upcycled wool blanket cushions lately. They are yummy.
Neat fabrics! This is one of the reasons I enjoy reading your posts, so that I can see what new fabrics are out there. Thanks for telling us about them.
ReplyDeleteOooh thanks for the heads up on Spotlight stocking DS....hopefully someone will see it in Spotty and give a shout out that it is in stock....I have noticed you have changed how you show your blog roll... just want to say I do miss seeing when each blog had been updated....
ReplyDeleteohhh I got a fq bundle on etsy and it arrived today! I am so in love with it which is good because my local SL sells out of any good stuff so that by the time I get my catalogue it's gooooooooone!
ReplyDeletelove what you've made already!
