The last few days have been really warm and humid in Melbourne, which I know is in stark contrast to many of you who are in the midst of Winter and covered in snow. Sewing in this heat is not nearly as pleasant as it should be.
Today I have managed to piece together the backing for Georgia's Quilt, and not much more. I wanted to introduce some soft colors for the back of the quilt, something other than just pink.
Georgia's Quilt top and backing are off to the long-arm quilter. I cannot wait to see the finished quilt.
wow
ReplyDeletelong arm quilter.... i'm curious why?? you do such fabulous quilting with your straight lines... it's kind of your trademark...

Hi Eva - Georgia's quilt is being quilted by my sister (the long arm quilter) as this quilt will be a unique and combined present to our niece who will be turning 6 in March. I think one day she will treasure this gift from her Aunts.
ReplyDeletevery pretty back. what a gorgeous quilt this will be.
ReplyDeleteThe back is gorgeous... I love the random fabrics! And also, I do not understand the concept of heat anymore... I hate snow. I miss Aussie winters :(
ReplyDeleteHi Rita,
ReplyDeletemakes perfect sense......

I love the back ... all those simpler coloured squares together with the large patterned blocks. Exactly how I like my quilts.
ReplyDeleteThe backing is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteAdds a nice balance to the large amount of pink on the front (not that there's anything wrong with that. hehehe)
Andi :-)
Cannot wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty - I can't wait to quilt it.
ReplyDeleteLove how you put the back together, very pretty. This will be a two sided quilt, pretty on both sides. Lovely gift, very lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt backing. Just as pretty as the front!
ReplyDeleteOooh, that backing is pretty! I love that print that is on both edges of the picture -- looks like a little starburst flower. Stay cool -- wish we could send you some snow -- we're getting about a foot of the pretty white stuff today!
ReplyDeleteI love that backing fabric! It's subtle, but has so many different colors.
ReplyDeleteRita..that is lovely...and a great idea to have the Aunties make it together! Boy, I sure wish I had a long armer in the family!
ReplyDeleteSorry it's so hot....got 34" of snow and expecting 12-18" more tonight!:) I think it is fun...sure do have a lot of tales to tell!:)
Very pretty colors and prints. They combine beautifully!

Yes, I remember when I went to visit Australia a few years ago during Christmas time and it was close to 100 degrees F. I felt like I was in an alternative reality.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to ask you what the green fabric is below the Prints Charming blue.
Love your blog and quilts.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabrics btw!
it really is gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! :) I like the back nearly as much as the front! :) I have tried incorporating this idea in the back of my quilts... I like the effect!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful backing fabrics. When you get the quilt back, I hope you'll post a picture of the back (two different uses of the word "back" in one sentence, but you know what I mean....)
ReplyDeleteoh your colour and fabric choices are so pretty!!!
ReplyDeletecorrie:)
Yeah I'm with you on the heat and sewing ;( Hey is that starburst looking fabric a Kaffe? I'm usually not a big fan but I like that one very much! And weirdly I was going to write to you to ask your advice on how to back a quilt so this has reminded me to do just that ... soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, those sweet, soft colors!! Waiting anxiously with you to see the finished product ...
ReplyDeleteI just received today The Quilters Album of Patchwork Patterns by Jinny Beyer. I would like to tell everyone, it it is a must have book for your library for sure. You will use it for many years to come. Your quilts are lovely and I enjoy your blog.
