Quilt Backing

The last few days have been really warm and humid in Melbourne, which I know is in stark contrast to many of you who are in the midst of Winter and covered in snow.  Sewing in this heat is not nearly as pleasant as it should be.

Today I have managed to piece together the backing for Georgia's Quilt, and not much more.  I wanted to introduce some soft colors for the back of the quilt, something other than just pink.

Georgia's Quilt top and backing are off to the long-arm quilter.  I cannot wait to see the finished quilt.

  2. Hi Eva - Georgia's quilt is being quilted by my sister (the long arm quilter) as this quilt will be a unique and combined present to our niece who will be turning 6 in March. I think one day she will treasure this gift from her Aunts.

  4. The back is gorgeous... I love the random fabrics! And also, I do not understand the concept of heat anymore... I hate snow. I miss Aussie winters :(

  6. I love the back ... all those simpler coloured squares together with the large patterned blocks. Exactly how I like my quilts.

  7. The backing is so pretty.
Adds a nice balance to the large amount of pink on the front (not that there's anything wrong with that. hehehe)

  12. Oooh, that backing is pretty! I love that print that is on both edges of the picture -- looks like a little starburst flower. Stay cool -- wish we could send you some snow -- we're getting about a foot of the pretty white stuff today!

  16. Yes, I remember when I went to visit Australia a few years ago during Christmas time and it was close to 100 degrees F. I felt like I was in an alternative reality.

Just wanted to ask you what the green fabric is below the Prints Charming blue.

    Love your blog and quilts.

  19. Beautiful backing fabrics. When you get the quilt back, I hope you'll post a picture of the back (two different uses of the word "back" in one sentence, but you know what I mean....)

  21. Yeah I'm with you on the heat and sewing ;( Hey is that starburst looking fabric a Kaffe? I'm usually not a big fan but I like that one very much! And weirdly I was going to write to you to ask your advice on how to back a quilt so this has reminded me to do just that ... soon!
