Besides a visit to the dentist, and acquiring a new filling, I spent Tuesday cutting and sewing! I have decided that the blue and red fabrics from Sunday's post are going to be made into half-square triangles.
I cut and chain-pieced until there was a stack of 4 inch squares:
There are several really quick and easy piecing methods for half square triangles, and some great tutorials on the net. This quick piecing method is such an efficient and satisfying way to sew, it takes all the difficulty of out sewing with triangles.
It was not until these blocks were on my design wall (the floor) that I realized just how many different ways there are that you can lay out these blocks. But I have chosen to stick with the very simple and uncomplicated.

ReplyDeleteOOOOO that rule is a must, ALWAYS! I seem to have broken that rule several times over the years. You think I would learn from my mistakes. Love the blocks, can't wait to see what your layout is on your design floor.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your newest creation.
ReplyDeleteI love the golden rule, except when it is really late at night, I have to measure three times!
Looking forward to see how you will put them together.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts and this in progress too! What solid color do you use?...it looks as a bit grey...love it!

They look great! I like doing blocks that way but drawing that pencil line takes forever and I often just cut them and sew them back rather than fuss with marking the line. Did you mark all those lines?
ReplyDeleteI can never get over how much crafting you can fit into a single day. How do you do it being a mom too? I'm lucky if I get a shower!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric next to the linen. It is so classic and sets off the prints/colors so well.
