When I read this post by Tallgrass Prairie Studio a few weeks ago and saw the fabrics Jacquie had added to her stash, I just knew they would also fit in well with my stash.
These fabrics arrived today from the US. They were ordered and sent on 13 May from the Fabric Shack, arrived at my front door (Melbourne, Australia) just 1 week later, what fantastic service!
The first fabric on the left is for the binding on this quilt. The others fabrics? Well no plans for them yet! It is not like I don't have any spotty/dotty fabrics in my stash already but I was right, they do fit in well with my stash! These fabrics are from Moda's Hello Betty range.
When ordering fabric from overseas you have to justify postage by filling the shipping envelope :)
This fabric is by Alexander Henry and is called Spotted Owl in blue. It's very cute! Where do you buy your fabrics?

Love the fabric! I never need an excuse to fill a package, especially if it is with such wonderful fabric finds. You did very well!
ReplyDeleteFabric Shack for me, too! But they are only about 6 hours away, so I get the package in 2 days. Nearly instant gratification! Speaking of which....I had been eyeing those spots from Jacquie as well, perhaps I shall fill my cart :)
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting some of that owl fabric - I love it!! The spots are great too. So much fabric...so little time!!
ReplyDeleteLove those spots! I just got my first order from Fabric.com. Not only was there a 20% off sale on their already pretty good prices, plus pretty speedy shipping, but they were quite generous in some of the cuts they sent. I was getting all half yards, some are closer to 3/4, and one looks to be (I'm sure a mistake) a full two yards. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning range of dots! I get most of my fabric from etsy sellers and have come across a few goodies! Waiting to get a package from these guys...

They have some FANTASTIC fat quarter packs.
I still need to grab some of those owls! I just received an order from Contemporary Cloth. This is the second time I've ordered from them - international - and I'm very pleased. No extra taxes or duty to cross the border. Nice of them!
ReplyDeleteI love fabric shack too -- and I'm lucky enough to only live 2 1/2 hours away! Your fabrics are so pretty. And I REALLY REALLY LOVE that pink and green quilt you just finished -- YUMMY!!!
ReplyDeletethat binding fabric is going to be gorgeous with that quilt...isn't it just too fun to get fabric in the mail?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteThat owl fabric keeps popping up on everyone's blog lately... it's just gorgeous... I love the really cross looking owl... he looks so pissed!! Not much decent fabric here in Melbourne... I just can't wait for the next Quilt and Craft Fair in July... Lx
ReplyDeletewell, I love looking at the colours and patterns in person, so I mostly shop at local stores as well as taking pass-along fabrics and scraps from my mother, who buys a lot. Yours is great. and I would do the same thing and get the most yardage for my shipping fees!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of fabric shack before, Thanks I will have to give them a go sometime! I love that owl fabric too!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric from www.fabricworm.com and www.zandsfabrics.com as well, get good deals and shipping takes a week. I've got the owl fabric too. I absolutely adore it. looks like it will go well with that spotty fabric.
ReplyDeleteLove your spots.
ReplyDeleteWhere do I buy my fabric?
Wherever I can find it.
Locally, in the country, in another country, online, etc.
Bring it on!!!
I'm off to Fabric Shack.
Andi :-)
I love the owls too !! But I have resisted so far .
ReplyDeleteI buy locally where I can but there is very little close to home.
So I also buy from Quilthome , Fat Quarter Shop & Fabric Shack too.
I search for fabrics & check out prices here : http://www.quiltshops.com/
Hi, great owl fabric. I've used www.quilthome.com and have always had a great service. They stock lots of the latest, modern fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI not only order from Fabric Shack but I go in person...dangerous. It's only 1 1/2 hours from my house. :o) Very lucky me. You should see the store in person! I love Hello Betty. I've already done 3 projects with it.
ReplyDeleteI stock up on fabric twice a year when I get to work the special sales at Miller's Dry Goods in Charm, Ohio. They just had their anniversary sale on May 1 and 2 - all fabric, notions and patterns were 30% off. We had people there from Canada and all over the mid-east states. Such a good time! I will buy on-line once in a while if there is something particular I am looking for. I also hand dye Kona white for my art quilts.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI buy almost all my fabric online. From Etsy sellers e.g. afabricoutlet, fabricworm. And from UK based store Cottonpatch. The upside is that it's much cheaper, the downside is you have to wait... patience is not my best quality
I buy everything from etsy so I have a better chance of supporting the little gal!
ReplyDeleteI love that owl fabric! I've bought some in the white background. I get a lot of my fabric from Thousands of bolts or at the local fabric shops.
ReplyDeletei agree, when you are paying for shipping charges, you might as well make them count! :) gorgeous new fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI have frequently drooled over that owl fabric. Maybe someday I'll get some too!
ReplyDeleteThose owls are adorable, and the red you used for binding is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI still buy most of my fabrics from brick and mortar shops. I just need to see the fabrics before I buy. On the other hand, I am starting to branch out for some Kona solids because I can't get them locally. So pretty!
Ohhh... now look what you've done! I have to go shopping at Fabric Shack!
ReplyDeleteI ordinarily buy at contemporarycloth.com
:)
I've been reading through your blog and am so grateful for the link to Fabric Shack, gotta love those priority envelopes :) Thanks!
