My Berry Marmalade Flowering Snowball Quilt is finished and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I have lots of photos to share with you today so please bear with me - I feel the need to show them all! It was difficult to get a set of photos that accurately represented the quilt and the design, especially the contrast of the linen look circles and the white circles, but I think that these photos do the quilt justice.
The quilt is quilted with edge to edge straight lines creating a foundation of intersecting lines (by ditch stitching the seam lines of the blocks) then adding more lines of stitching in between. The lines are closely spaced - 1/2" apart - to create a texture that is lovely to touch and at the same time gives the quilt a soft drape.
For the back of the quilt I have used a single fabric from the Trinket collection by Melody Miller for Cotton + Steel: Happy Garden in Orange. This is a happy fabric indeed! I have had a small amount of yardage - suitable for a quilt back - in my stash for a while and this was the perfect quilt for it.
For the binding I have used a simple red/white stripe fabric from the Ella Basics collection for Ella Blue Fabrics.

If you are interested in purchasing one of my quilts
- even one that I am still working on -
I have loved working on this quilt and I am super pleased with the end result, especially the warm color palette. I dare say once again that this is not my last Flowering Snowball Quilt, although for the time being I am happy to step back from this block with its short and tight curves.
Thank you for stopping by,
Rita

Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it!! And I feel so validated, as I used white and osnaburg in my Flowering Snowball several yrs ago!:D hehe! Another gorgeous quilt, Rita!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Rita. I so love the richly happy backing! Gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeletereally lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is the prettiest flowering snowball I've ever seen! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are so joyful. A beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe colours, shapes and textures all make this quilt feel totally joyful! As always, the photography is wonderful too. I'm fascinated by how you take the full flat shots of your quilts - I'm wondering whether you're hanging them or laying them out on the floor and if it's the latter, how high your step ladder must be to get such a perfect view of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh Rita, I love it of course. I love RED and I love your subtle inconsistent consistencies and inconsistencies too. You are so inspiring. I love a quilt that encourages your eyes to look over the details if you want, or just see one garden of snowballs.
ReplyDeleteI have learned from you, that it is better to just let go of perfection as a goal. Just move along with what you see. gah, hard to describe.
Do you often receive commentary from family or loved ones that observe your ideas and progress? Do you readily accept others opinions or analysis? Do you explain your viewpoint?
I am just wondering.... 😬😀 I find it entertaining to listen to incoming assessments from visitors and friends, and DAUGHTERS.
Have a happy rest of the week dear Rita. I hope you are having warmer sunnier days. Time flies
I love this quilt and the backing.
ReplyDeleteThis is another fabulous quilt of which I am envious. I love the placement of the white fabric to form the circle design. At first I thought the white pieces were random, but you clearly planned for that as a secondary design element. This is why you are so admired, because you make your quilts spontaneous and scrappy, yet you clearly plan the design more carefully than it appears.
