Half Square Triangles. I never tire of seeing quilts made from simple and traditional patchwork units, especially Half Square Triangles. Despite the fact that these units can be somewhat tedious to piece I continue to re-visit this versatile block.
My project this week is not unlike the Oakshott Scandinavia Quilt that I made early last month - the same but different. The same general design/layout concept but a different color palette - featuring the recently released Carkai collection by Carolyn Friedlander.
The challenge I set myself this week was to make a quilt using the Carkai collection - a collection featuring unique and modern designs - and to combine it with stash fabrics and classic/timeless fabrics. I loved working with these fabrics! The colors are those that I gravitate towards naturally so it wasn't a difficult task and the fabric choices seemed to flow and develop naturally.
The Details:
Quilt Size: 48 inches x 57 inches
304 Half Square Triangles (HSTs)
each finished HST measures 3" x 3".
19 rows of 16 HST units.
608 patchwork pieces.
The Fabrics:
Liberty of London Tana Lawn
Stash fabrics including several Cotton + Steel prints.
Ready for basting and quilting.
Thank you for stopping by,
Rita
