QUILT STATS
Strips and Bricks Quilt
Quilt measures 50.5 inches x 62.5 inches.
100% cotton batting (Matilda's Own)
It never disappoints. This quilt design is excellent for creative fabric play. I really do love working with fabric, is my favorite part of the quilt making process; mixing color and pattern, looking for contrast, and especially the unexpected. The fabrics used are mainly quilting cottons but also include several pieces of hand screen printed linen blend fabrics, beautiful Liberty of London Tana Lawn, and the large scale yellow/green floral fabric is a piece of iconic Marimekko fabric.
Adding interest to fabric by way of quilting closely follows my first love that is fabric play, and I like to do so in a minimal way, without fanfare. Simple straight lines. But that's not to say that there aren't a lot of lines. The texture created by closely spaced lines is divine. The texture is well worth enduring the endless task of row stitching. I need a touch screen for these images!
For the back of the quilt I have once again used a text fabric ~ Newsprint from the Paint Collection by Carrie Bloomston ~ and I have mixed up my usual binding routine by using Squared Elements in Honeycomb by Art Gallery Fabrics for binding fabric.
This quilt is available for purchase in my Etsy Store.
Thank you for stopping by,
Rita
