An Autumn Quilt ~ Quick Stats
Quilt top measures 60.5" x 75.5"
30 rows of 24 squares
720 squares each measuring 2.5" x 2.5" (excluding seam allowances)
120+ different fabrics used.
A finished quilt ~ I love patchwork! Simple patchwork and pretty fabrics are at the top of my "favorite things" list. This quilt is all of that, with lots of fabrics stash basics, pretty floral fabrics, vintage fabrics as well as Liberty Tana Lawn. This is what my happy sewing looks like.
The finished squares measure 2.5" x 2.5" and I have quilted the quilt by ditch-stitching (from edge to edge) all seam lines, then stitching a single vertical and horizontal line through the center of each square, in effect creating an all over 1.25" grid. I did not use a quilting guide to keep the lines straight as with such small squares I can quite accurately gauge the center line without the use of a quilting guide simply by keeping my eye on the outer edges of the walking foot and the seam lines.
For the back of the quilt I have used a single fabric from the Country Girls collection by Tasha Noel. And for binding I have used another fabric favorite, my signature black and white stripe fabric by Timeless Treasures.

ReplyDeleteI just have to ask- why is it called "Autumn Quilt"?
ReplyDeleteCurious what batting you used in the Autumn Quilt?
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by! I use 100% cotton batting usually Matilda's Own brand. I use both bleached white (for quilts with a lot of white/light background fabric) and unbleached cotton batting.

ReplyDeleteQuestion for you: Do you wash your quilts before sending them off? I have always tended to in the past but sometimes wonder if I should send them unwashed.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. Would love to see it in the flesh and study all the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteDelightful! And I love the freshness of the backing fabric and binding. Perfect choices all round. I'm inspired to go check my stash/scrap pile and start my own...
ReplyDeleteAs always I just love your work. When I first saw the title "Autumn Quilt", I quickly clicked on to see what goodie you had produced this time. Autumn is my favorite season. I thought of all the russets, browns, and oranges that is autumn as we know it here in the US would be so out of your normal color palettes. Thus the excitement of what you could have conjured up. I did scratch my head a little and thought maybe autumn in your neck of the woods is different. Maybe you could educate us. Regardless, it's a beaut!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty patchwork quilt! I love clicking all the pics and seeing what fabrics I can identify.
