Custom Order Baby Quilt Quilt measures 42.5 inches x 54.5 inches |
This new week begins with a finished quilt. I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving have had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend shared with family and friends. In Australia we don't celebrate Thanksgiving and instead it feels like we have rushed into December with a countdown to Christmas. It's only 23 more sleeps ... This year has flown by and every passing year seems to gather speed, but I am grateful for today and everyday, and that I get to share my work here. Sewing and quilting bring me so much joy and I hope my photos convey some of that joy to you!
This quilt is a custom order for a baby girl quilt - fresh, modern and pink, with the design and color palette left up to me. I have complemented the pink fabrics with yellow and orange fabrics, adding several graphic grey and black prints for contrast.
For the back of the quilt I have used a print from the Wee Wander collection by Sarah Jane. If you've had the pleasure of using or even touching this fabric you'll know that it is luxuriously soft and gives the quilt a light and airy feel. I love this print in particular as it features tiny baby foot prints!

ReplyDeleteThe yellows and the grays make it!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever worked with fabrics produced in India? How do they compare in terms of quality?
This is one of my favorites that I've seen on your blog. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Rita, did you quilt each block in a different direction? If so, how did you end or move to the next block?

It is lovely, so fresh and cheerful, looks like a spring day!
ReplyDeleteThat is just so lovely. The colour and print mix...perfect. Thank you so much for sharing .... it makes me feel good.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely delightful, Rita! Your quilt tops are always so perfectly smooth - do you have any advice on how to achieve this? Do you press your seams a particular way or anything like that? I'm so inspired!
ReplyDeleteNothing like finishing a project and it looking great to boot.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
Totally magical Rita - one lucky little girl!!! C x
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely quilt! I am sure it will be loved and well-used.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Quilt. The little girl will LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteHi Rita. I was wondering what kind of batting you use. I have been using warm and natural and it seems that my quilts are stiff and better suited as wall hangings or table runners. I'm wondering what kind of batting would produce a softer quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love this pretty little quilt! Simple but pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou have never made a quilt that I didn't love, but this one is particularly beautiful. I love the yellow mixed in with the pinks for a modern, fresh feel, and the pink stripe binding is perfection!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDelete...oh so sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt is LOVELY!! A cherished item, for sure!
