A variation on simple patchwork but still with a focus on the fabric. My fabric selection for this quilt was driven by the new quilting weight Floating World collection by the Australian design team Umbrella Prints. There are 6 quilting weight fabrics ~
The Cherry Blossom Hearts may just be a new favorite! |
This was my starting point. From there I added, subtracted, and reviewed. Several more fabrics were part of this fabric party but did not make the final cut.
The quilt design is a repeat from a previous quilt - Strips and Bricks Quilt I June 2009 and Strips and Bricks Quilt II July 2010. The original pattern is by Malka Dubrawsky and was featured in Sew Hip Magazine in 2009 and has since been published as a pdf pattern (available from Malka's Etsy Store). For all three quilts I have however each time made slight block size adjustments. It is the perfect pattern to showcase these fabrics.
The quilt top is ready for basting and quilting. You know what I will be doing this weekend!
Have a great - stitchy - weekend!
Rita

I love all that soothing low volume piecing, with a pop here and there of color! Really keeps your eye moving around the quilt!
