Basic Instructions:
- Choose up to 10 different printed fabrics and 1.25 yards solid fabric.
- Make 84 Flying Geese Units.
- Sew Flying Geese blocks together into six rows of 14 Flying Geese Units.
- Join rows together with a 1 1/2 inch strip (including seam allowances) of solid white fabric
- Add a border to the top and bottom of the quilt if so desired (I have used Marine by Dan Stiles for Birch Fabrics).
The quilt top measures 41 inches x 52 inches.
I am hoping to get started on quilting this quilt over the weekend.
Thank you for stopping by,
Rita
Thank you for the instruction: "Turning the handle does not require force". I find it very difficult to get the die to go into my machine - once in and moving, everything works perfectly. Is it me or the machine - or normal?
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne ~ I didn't have any problems getting the die to go into the machine, although perhaps an extra hand might have been helpful to line it up, turn the handle and keep things steady.
ReplyDeleteI can feel a difference in turning the handle though when more than 1 layer of fabric is on the die. It feels firmer and I wondered if several layers of fabric on the die made for a better cut.

So pretty!
ReplyDeleteoh I love it! fabulous fabrics; it's adorable.
ReplyDeletePerfect cuts! The cutter is definately on my wish list for x-mas. And as always I love your choise of colors and design :) The horisontal border really stands out.
ReplyDeleteSOLD! I just had got a GO! Baby yesterday and love it. They way you showed the flying geese really lessens the waste of fabric and the time of not having to trim when you use squares instead of triangles. After seeing your post I just had to go online and order. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteThat certainly seems to take the work out of cutting all those geese. Love the beach-y look of this quilt!!
ReplyDeleteLovely - Having just trimmed a gazillion HSTs I would really appreciate one of these lovelies ... I love the dog eared corners too ... what heaven.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is super doopah too - nice work Rita - thanks for edging me ever closer to taking the Go Baby plunge! x
Cute quilt Rita and it looks like you are having a great time with your new Go! Baby.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I so need a Go! Baby!
ReplyDeleteGo! Baby! or not..I can feel a few flying geese coming on soon.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I think you were quite productive before this go baby and now think of the quilt tops you can make with the ease of cutting..
ReplyDeleteVery cute quilt! Your border completely makes it!
ReplyDeleteI may just have to change which dies I wish for on my wish list when I try to win a Go.. :) This looks FANTASTIC!! I sure wish I had a GO Baby... one quilt at a time.. okay.. then nose grew just a little.. two!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's awesome that those two dies make a perfect flying geese! I'll have to keep that in mind!! :)

I just love the layout of the quilt. It's so whimsical with the geese flying between the waves the clouds. So cut!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing how you use the Go! cutter. I hear all about them but felt that there would be too much fabric waste with a cutter like this. Apparently not!
ReplyDeleteAnd the quilt--love the water borders. Geese flying over! :)
What a great post on showing off just how the GO! Baby works! I am certainly loving my own.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt!!! As usual, you amaze me!
This info couldn't come at a better time as I just won a Go! baby!! I had already chosen the 3" HST's so added the 4 7/8 triangle as well. Can hardly wait to try it. Thanks for a very timely post!
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of dies to make those flying geese fly! Thanks for showing the step by step. Love the borders at the top and bottom of the quilt. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm a sucker for gadgets, I didn't think I needed the "Go Baby". But after reading your post and seeing what you've been doing with yours, I might change my mind. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you'll make with it.
ReplyDeleteI love my Studio cutter and appreciate the pattern books you mentioned. I plan to print them and put them in my binder for when I need a little inspiration or something quick. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHeavens above, you are FAST!
ReplyDeleteYour gadget really helps I'm sure.... and what a great job you have done on the flying geese quilt, I am envious.
What a beautiful quilt. Love how happy it looks.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lot of fun with this.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like THE way to make flying geese. I have not made them yet, but now I'll have to add these cutters to my wish list!
